About Us

Red Deer Safety City provides young people with life-saving injury-prevention education programming unique to Central Alberta.

Since 2001 we have accomplished this goal through realistic simulations of genuine real-world hazards in fun and controlled environments which provide individuals and groups with the knowledge and skills to keep themselves and their communities safe now and in the future.  

The wâwâskêsiw sîpiy, or Red Deer River, flows from the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies to Empress at our border with Saskatchwean before merging with the South Sasasketchwan River. This magnificant part of our landscape marks the northern edge of Treaty 7 territory where Safety City is fortunate to be situated.

Each day we see the children and the families who pass through our programs, we see the animals and the plants who call our site home, and we see the winds, the skies, and the cosmos pass overhead. We give thanks for all the gifts and knowledge that are granted to us through our connection to this place.

We acknowledge all the ancestors who have lived on this land and their relatives who have called it their home. This territory is the ancestral home of the First Nations & Métis Nations whose Elders and Knowledge Keepers continue to bless us with their teachings and guidance even today. 

So long as we are here, we will welcome and respect all peoples to come and be Safe in this place we call home.
